Unfortunately there are times when, whether as a result of current or past life events, or because of feelings that may have built up slowly over time, we can feel ‘stuck’, angry, unhappy, anxious or bereft, and may struggle to see a way out of a situation or experiencing these feelings. Sometimes it is not always possible to understand our own thoughts or feelings.
Difficulties may be related to work, family, a relationship, or as a result of a loss such as bereavement, divorce or redundancy.
Counselling offers a unique opportunity to be truly listened to, and to explore your own experiences in a comfortable and confidential setting. Sometimes there is value in simply being heard and validated, or having the opportunity to process difficult or painful emotions.
Counselling can also be solution-focussed, where we work to a particular goal such as developing helpful coping strategies through a difficult period, or changing unhelpful repetitive behaviour patterns linked to past events to more positive ones in order to help you move forward to where you want to be.
For others, counselling can help them find the inner resources they need to achieve their goal, such as having more confidence, or a better relationship.
Whatever the issue, counselling can help an individual to feel more empowered and in control of their lives, thereby enabling positive change, and restoring a healthier balance.
